Movin' on Up

C. started me a day early 'cause there was so much to do, and after seeing me in action, and realizing that she was acting as more of a producer than a PM, she promoted me to PM. So now I've got a national spot as PM under my belt. Can't complain about that.

On top of that, Tuesday, before I rolled out of town, I got a call from Bob Marx wanting to set up a meeting to introduce ourselves to each other. After my referral from Woody for the health minute spot, I decided to try to get a meeting to speak to the Marx brothers about producing for them. It felt good to tell them that I wasn't available until later in the month 'cause I was working for Ford.

Credibility is starting to roll in bit by bit.

FerryLand

Took the Lake Express to Michigan today. Quite the surreal experience, and quite anti-climactic.

Security was lax at best.

Security guy (wearing a gun): "Good evening sir, do you have a reservation?"
Me (in my car): "Yes. Dan Wilson."
Security guy (checking me off the list): "Are you carrying any firearms with you today?"
Me: "No."
Security guy: "Have a safe trip!"
No looking through the Pelican cases in the back of my van, no asking to see ID.

Fences prevented me from getting a clear sense of the ferry as it came into the port of Milwaukee, we were quickly herded onto the car deck and then to passenger seating. I couldn't find a power outlet for my laptop, so I went into premiere class, where there were five folks in about thirty seats. The woman asked if I was supposed to be in premiere class and I said yes. She wrote me in on the list and brought me beverages throughout the trip.

Crazy.

Landed in Muskegon and drove to Grand Rapids for the evening.

Was supposed to meet B for dinner, but she totally blew me off. No idea what's up with that.

As I said, quite the surreal experience.

Connie Comes Through

So with the film I worked on earlier this summer, "Dee Dee Rutherford," I was location manager with Connie. She was thrilled at how I was able to hit the ground running and was very comfortable leaving the show in my capable hands when she needed to leave due to prior commitments.

She's also been talking about bringing me on to work some commercials that she gets in the Detroit area, bribing me with the offer of free housing.

Today I got the call. After being pushed a couple times, the Ford spot was finally set to shoot on the 13th. Conveniently, the day before I needed to start with the Golf Channel in the Detroit area. Now all I need to do is change my ferry reservation to a week earlier.

Miscellaneous crap I think about throughout the day, and need to get out of my head.
